FAQ about Volunteering in Ekids!!

Do I have to come up with the lessons?

No!  We supply all the lessons!  In fact, the lessons are laid out three months at a time.  You receive the lessons at the beginning of the quarter which allows you ample time to look things over and get familiarized with everything.

Do I provide the supplies?

No!  Ekids staff will have all the supplies ready and waiting to go when you come to your classroom each time you are serving.  All you have to do is be familiar with the lessons and be excited to love kids and teach!

Why do you schedule on a "month on/month off" rotation?

We have found consistency to be key to creating an environment where kids feel safe and secure and ready to learn.  Having the same teacher at the same time for a month at a time allows the kids to know what to expect when they arrive at their room.  The rotation also makes an easier system of scheduling for teachers and staff alike.  Teachers know which months they are teaching in advance so it makes it a snap to schedule vacations, etc.  And staff knows who will be in the classroom each Sunday.

What if I have a vacation or need a Sunday off?

If you have a Sunday you are scheduled to serve, and you can't make it do to vacation or illness, just give us a call and we will get a substitute for you.

Do I need to have experience to work in the classroom?

Absolutely not!  All you need is a loving spirit and teachable heart!  We will provide you with all the training you need, from scheduling time for you to shadow a veteran teacher, to additional training opportunities during the year.
